The New England Patriots' Aaron Hernandez has been arrested and taken into custody by police at his home, though it's unclear what charges he faces.
Hernandez has been at the center of a police homicide investigation pertaining to Odin Lloyd, 27, a semipro football player who was found dead June 17.
His body was discovered in an industrial park by a nighttime jogger, about a half-mile from Hernandez's home, and police ruled the death a homicide.
Lloyd's family members said that Lloyd, who was shot in the head, and Aaron Hernandez were friends who had been together the previous day.
ABC News reported that Hernandez destroyed his phone and video surveillance system and had his home professionally cleaned the same day.
That led to rumors that obstruction of justice charges were imminent, though it's unclear if the NFL star faces that charge and/or other criminal charges.
Massachusetts State Police have twice searched Hernandez's home, along with nearby woods and a pond, and have collected 12 bags of evidence.
They concentrated on the house, a large playhouse in the back yard that Hernandez uses as a doghouse, nearby woods and Hernandez's white SUV.
They returned to the neighborhood Monday, when two divers in scuba gear checked a nearby pond as officers scoured wooded areas with metal detectors.
All records related to the investigation were impounded by court order.
The Patriots drafted Hernandez out of Florida in 2010. Since then, he's combined with Rob Gronkowski to form one of the top tight end duos in the NFL.
He's been equally explosive off the field, apparently.
Last week another man from Connecticut filed a civil lawsuit in claiming that Hernandez shot him in the face in February, causing him to lose an eye.
